This soup is much simpler than speaking French but while it's cooking, you could make a list of people to share it with. Hospitality done simply- Voila!
Ingredients
3 T. butter
2 yellow onions, sliced into rings
2 15-oz. cans beef broth
½ T. sugar
½ t. salt
¼ c. dry sherry or white wine
2-4 slices of French bread, toasted
2-4 slices of Gruyere cheese or Swiss cheese
Instructions
Heat slow - cooker to High and plop in butter
Add onion rings and break apart gently with fingers in the melting butter
Add broth, sugar, salt, and sherry
Cook low 8-10 hours or high 4-6 hours
Finished when onions are translucent and pliable
Before serving, remove stoneware, float toasted bread with cheese slices on top of the soup
Broil in the oven for a minute or until cheese melts
