I'm Sue!
Speaker, author, hospitality & loneliness expert.

As a retreat and conference speaker, I love sharing God’s invitation to know and love Him personally. Because He invited us to His table, we can show off His welcoming heart by inviting others to our table. Loneliness is an unnecessary disease and we can cure it by doing simple hospitality. Becoming a woman of welcome can be learned. I want to help you grow in your faith, deepen your joy, and build your confidence as you welcome your world into your home, your kitchen island, or the backyard with the broken swing and imperfect landscaping.

because God invited first. It’s one more way to be like Jesus. We’re not all called to Outer Mongolia or to adopt a dozen orphans or preach every Sunday and twice on Wednesdays.

We’re invited to invite. That’s it and it’s grand. You may not think so yet, but hang around Welcome Heart and you’ll soon agree. I’ve seen what God can do with a simple invitation:

I love to fill my home and kitchen with friends or strangers for the sake of Jesus

AND I LIKE TO MAKE IT EASY

I love company – but not only because I love a crowd or because my mom invited every Tom, Dick and Harriet she ever met or because I don’t mind serving tuna casserole and brownies to anyone and everyone. Nope. I love inviting

“Would you like to come over? Nothing fancy. Bring the kids. Please come. You’re welcome here.”

The scoop on Sue

Sue graduated from Los Angeles Baptist College (now The Master’s College) with a B.A. in Literature and earned a Masters of Arts in Human Resource Development from Azusa Pacific College.

She led a full single life as a high school teacher and as a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators, including two years in Brazil and six months in Papua New Guinea.

Sue married Mark at the ripe old age of 35 – a late bloomer, but glad to have found the Man-in-Plaid. He's an Internist by day and a Mr. Fix-it/Home Remodeler by night and weekends. (Remodeling for 14 years and still married. A good sign.)

They reside in San Luis Obispo, California where they’ve raised three daughters, Bonnie Sue, Bethany and their “surprise” treat when Sue was almost 44, Mary Grace.
